Many journalists from the Northwest have visited the seminars of the Danish expert on infographics Ole Rode  Jensen. This June the opportunity to "pump" the knowledge and skills was given to Murmansk journalists and students of journalism. For two days the representative of the Nordic Journalism Centre, lecturer of Danish school of journalism and media told and taught how to use free and accessible data visualization tools.

On 16 June Brussels hosted a seminar on the Barents cooperation. Representatives of BPI Anna Kireeva and Amund Trellevik were also among speakers. The heads of the Russian and Norwegian Barents Press described the 20 years of successful collaboration in the field of media.

New oil and gas journalistic course

Journalists from Barents Russia are invited to send applications for the course «Oil and gas development is the main perspective of the North». Nine chosen participants will go to a study trip to Norway from 28 April to 7 May, 2010.

This will be the fourth course for journalists devoted to the peculiarities of such topics as «Big oil». The course will be held by Norwegian «Consult Inform» centre and Barents Press with the support of Norway MFA and «Statoil» company.

The participants will visit the cities connected with sea oil deposit exploration in Hammerfest, Stavanger and the capital of Norway - Oslo.

The course leader is Elnar Seljevold, «Consult Inform». The programme organizer is Elena Larionova, Barents Press.

All the expenses are provided by the organizers of the seminar.

Journalists writing on the gas and oil topic from Murmansk, Arkhangelsk region, Komi Republic and Nenets Autonomous District are welcome.

Deadline is April 2, 2010.
