On Monday 28th of September, Thomas Nilsen was fired from his position as chief editor of the online news site BarentsObserver by the owners of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, the three Northern Norwegian county administrations.

More than a hundred journalists from Finland, Norway, Sweden and Russia are to meet tomorrow in the city of Oulu, Finland, to discuss their professional matters, to consider the development processes in the Barents region and just to have friendly talks.

Annual meeting 2010 opened

Barents Press 16 annual meeting in Bodø is open. Robert Sandström, Board Chairman, Barents Press International, and Arne Egil Tønset, Board Chairman, Barents Press Norway, opened the meeting with a short speech.

For the first time we have an annual meeting without Jelena Larionova, Chairman BP Russia and project coordinator of BPI .

Arne Egil Tønset, Board Chairman, Barents Press Norway, opened the meeting with a greetings from Thorvald Stoltenberg, Norwegian Foreign Affairs 1987-1989 and 1990-1993 and promoter to the Barents Region 1993.

Arne Egil Tønset deliver greetings from Jelena Larionova and Thorvald Stoltenberg, Norwegian diplomat and former cabinet member.
