Acquaintance with management of festivals of documentary cinema of Northern countries became the theme of the week long training of the Russian experts in Norway and Finland within the limits of the project «Management of film festivals» financed by Ministerial council of Northern countries. 13 representatives of film festivals of the Northwest of Russia from St.-Petersburg, Murmansk, Kaliningrad, Arkhangelsk and Petrozavodsk took part in the trip from January, 18th till January, 28th.

The nearer   Barents Spektakel,   more worries for journalists : so many events in five days ...A group of Russian journalists   covering  this extraordinary festival is formed at last. Thanks to a grant from the Norwegian Barents Secretariat and Nordic  Journalists Centre   (Denmark) for the ninth time we will be able to try this "cultural-political cocktail " as organizers- Pikene på broen- call Barents Spektakel.

On August, 27th in the Finnish city of Joensuu the Norwegian branch of the Helsinki committee held a meeting with partners from public organizations of the Northwest of Russia which work in legal assistance sphere.

 

 

 


Among them was association Barents Press International which was represented by the coordinator of the project Elena Larionov, a member of the Russian national board Elena Doilnitsyna and a member of the international board Tatiana Polkova.

Joint projects since 2006

Barents Press has a wide experience of partner work with the Norwegian branch of the Helsinki committee in the field of spreading knowledge about human rights. The first seminar took place in Murmansk in September, 2006. Seminars-dialogues with journalists were held in Murmansk and Arkhangelsk, and also in the House of human rights in Oslo. In total there were nine seminars held in which both skilled journalists, and students of faculties of journalism participated. The information on projects is in materials of our Web-site.

Now in Karelia as well

The head of educational programs of the Norwegian branch of Helsinki committee Enver Djuliman and the coordinator Elena Saenkova told about new plans of cooperation, in particular about seminars on human rights for journalists which will take place in Karelia as well.

During the meeting several actions were planned. Till the end of 2010 in Petrozavodsk there will be held a seminar-dialogue for Karelian journalists about human rights and an interregional conference for colleagues from Murmansk and Arkhangelsk areas and Karelia.
Work in all Barents-Russia will be also continued in 2011.
