The Union of Journalists of Karelia starts a long-term project: to create Alley of Journalists in Petrozavodsk rest park on the quay of the Onega lake. All mass-media of Karelia and all journalists are invited to participate in planting trees.

Chairman of Karelian Union of Journalists Anatoly Tsygankov, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Petrozavodsk" Alexey Smirnov and the correspondent of the newspaper "Lyceum" Irina Larionov have temporarily taken up the management function of the project «Alley of journalists». Together with the main artist of the city of Petrozavodsk Vladimir Lobanov they took a walk round the park and chose a nice place (see the photo). The item of allocation the territory for the Alley of Journalists is discussed and agreed with the city administration and the head of Petrozavodsk Nikolai Levin.

The authors of the idea believe that work will be stretched for some years. But it is necessary to begin this year to equip a part of the allocated territory. It is necessary to find technics to level the path (the tractor is required), to dig out holes, to deliver a ground, to buy saplings etc. In general, there's a lot of works to be done.

Technical questions are now discussed. Mass-media and journalists are to get saplings which all will be got and transported together.

On Monday, September, 20th, A.Tsygankov met the head of Petrozavodsk N.Levin, having informed him what help the Union of Journalists waits from city administration. All offers were accepted.

During the last week of October it is planned to make the first organized planting of trees.
