3-4 June Kirkenes declaration- 2 is to be signed in Norway's Kirkenes. This document will determine the strategies for further development of cooperation in the Barents  Region   for the next few decades. Barents secretariat is planning to invite a group of journalists from Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions and from Karelia to cover the event.Nordic Journalist Centre from Denmark also supports this project.

April 25-28 in the city of Apatity there was  held the XVIII Conference of the international journalists network  Barents Press International. More than a hundred participants from Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia discussed the issues of journalism and the processes occurring in the Barents region.

Russian journalists will go on an ecological press tour

The Russian ecological Union – the Climatic Secretary «Friends of Baltic», the Kola Ecological Center invite journalists of the Northwest of Russia to take part in media tour «The Climate and Green Power».


The main aim is to show interrelation of a problem of climate changes with decisions in the field of renewed power and power efficiency and also to acquaint journalists with examples of practical decisions in this area for formation of public opinion and advancement of ideas of green power through mass media.

Within the limits of the press tour journalists will get acquainted with examples of:

  • introductions of power effective approaches in inhabited sector within the limits of the pilot project «Power effective quarter», Apatity;

  • production of biogas from animal waste industries in the agrocomplex "Kovdorsky" of Murmansk area;

  • using of wind power for enterprise power supply (hotel Ogni Murmanska in Murmansk);

  • and with other examples of low carbonic power decisions.
